Nurture in Nature

Resting on the shores of Lettes Bay, Tasmania, Bushy Summers is a part of a close-knit community of neighbouring, historic miner shacks. It is the most private shack in the bay and a simple and cosy space with stunning views to help you unwind and feel inspired. Disconnect from the hustle and bustle of normal life and reconnect to self in nature.

We love sharing this truly magical place, the perfect retreat for one to two people.

Our Story

On a trip to Tasmania, Matthew Usmar Lauder and I fell in love with the Wild West Coast and when we found an old shack in Lettes Bay in need of some love, it led to a new chapter in our lives.

We named the shack Bushy Summers because of the moniker of a previous owner, who was known locally as “a bit of character”. Taking the shack back to its bare bones, Matthew spent five months bringing it back to life while I concentrated on making it beautiful. We used many recycled and preloved items and filled the shack with beautiful treasures from local, Tassie businesses.

Feel inspired…

Your day will gently unfold as you wake up to the sound of birdsong or the quack of the resident ducks as they wander up and down the bay and
close-knit community of neighbouring, historic miner shacks is what makes Lettes Bay so special.

Completely relax as you curl up with a pot of tea and book in the comfy double bed, or soak in the luxurious cast iron claw foot bath and glimpse the gum tree tops. Cook your favourite meal in our simple, little kitchen or take a long stroll along the shoreline and explore nature. Sit out on the deck with a glass of Tasmanian wine, listen to the Bushy Summers Spotify playlist, read, write, paint, make... feel inspired.

“One of the most special places we’ve ever stayed! The shack is so cosy and beautiful - we quickly fell in love with it and its location. Highlights were the incredible view from the window, morning and evening greetings from the ducks, and all the little details and special touches that made our stay relaxing and peaceful. We hope to return soon.”
